There will always be a chance of a flat tire on your ebike. The type of terrain you are riding on or not taking enough care of your tires could bring around a higher chance of a flat. There are things you can do to help lessen your chance of getting a flat. So, hang on tight and we will give you some tips.
Watch Where you Ride
This one may seem like an obvious piece of advice, but you can never say this enough. Please don’t be reckless on where you take your ebikes. By this we mean avoid construction areas or areas that may have anything on the ground that could puncture a tire. If you know of an area where there could be glass, nails, or pieces of debris, it’s best to avoid. Take paved bike paths or common gravel roads.
Perform Tire Care
Every once in a while, you should inspect your ebike tires for anything that could have become imbedded in them. This is a great method on how to avoid flat tires on a bike. Whether that be a small piece of glass, a nail, rock, or other object. Although these items may not cause a flat tire right away, they highly increase the chances of getting one. You can use a tool to take these items out of your tire to help prevent a flat. It’s also important to check how your tires look overall. If you notice any damage or cracking on your tires, your chances of a flat also increase. If you are ever unsure about whether your tire is still good to ride on, you can always take it to a local bike shop.
Watch Your Tire Pressure
Another method on how to avoid flat tires on a bike: Watch your tire pressure. Riding with low tire pressure can result in a flat. Typically, the psi (pounds per square inch) can be found on the side of your tire. This is the unit measurement of how much you should inflate your tire to. Over-inflating your tire won’t necessarily cause a flat but riding with too high of tire pressure can cause your tire to pop.
When in Doubt, Call Your eBike Company
If you are ever unsure about anything tire-related, your best bet is to call your bike company. They know your bike like the back of their hands. What better way to get information than going right to the source?
